The Book
A clean framework for conflict: recognize the pattern, interrupt escalation, protect connection.
What this is
A practical system for the moment you realize: “If we keep talking like this, we’re going to damage the relationship.” You’ll learn what to say, what to stop doing, and how to pause without making it worse.
Who it’s for
Couples, co-parents, families, teams — anyone who wants to keep honesty without escalation. Built for real pressure: emotion, history, and limited capacity.
Core idea: When content fails, check the pattern. Interrupt the process first — solve the issue second.
Clean Conflict is pattern-first conflict control. How it works (in real life)
Most damage happens during the “shift” — when voices sharpen, explanations speed up, or someone withdraws.
1) Spot the shift
Learn the early “first domino” signals: flooding, piling on, circular arguing, chasing, and shutdown. Catching it early is more important than naming it perfectly.
2) Interrupt cleanly
Use one sentence to change the process: “Pause — we’re escalating.” Then stop talking. The sentence is the intervention.
3) Choose the right path
If anyone is flooded: take a clean pause (with a return time). If both have capacity: use structure (one issue, one request, turn-taking).
Free excerpt: Emergency Use
For the moment it’s blowing up — stop escalation first, then return to the issue with structure.
The 30-second reset
1) Stop adding content. Don’t explain. Don’t prove. Don’t correct details.
2) Name what’s happening (process, not blame). “We’re escalating.”
3) Choose the next move. Pause (if flooded) or Structure (if not).
One clean line (use one only): “I’m flooded. I need a pause so we don’t make this worse.”
Then set a return time: “I’ll be back at 7:30.”Want the full scripts + pattern decoder + cheat-sheet? Get the book on Amazon.

About the author
Research-driven, practical, and built for real-world high-stress conversations.
Evan R. Caldwell is a conflict-systems researcher and communications analyst who has spent over a decade studying how everyday arguments escalate into emotional harm — and how they can be stopped before damage occurs.
His work draws from real-world relationship conflict analysis, family court and custody communication patterns, high-stakes mediation and crisis communication, and behavioral pattern interruption and nervous-system regulation.
He is known for translating complex conflict dynamics into simple, usable scripts that work in the moment — not just in theory.
